Throughout her 23-year career in education, Michelle Berry has served as a passionate advocate for equity and inclusivity, dedicated to increasing all students’ access to educational opportunities. With expertise in steering community-wide efforts to empower learners through a social justice-centered approach, Michelle is a collaborative leader, a seasoned instructor, and a champion for students along every point of their academic journeys.

In her former role as the Area Superintendent, Michelle serves 9 high schools in Los Angeles’ Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valley region. Trauma-informed instruction and social-emotional well-being are at the heart of Michelle’s educational philosophy; she strives to create pathways and programs for students to meet benchmarks in innovative ways that correspond to their holistic needs and today’s complex challenges. Bringing together families and school stakeholders, Michelle encourages the whole community to view at-promise students’ resilience and tenacity through a strengths-based lens.

Michelle credits her success to her commitment to integrity, her openness to new ideas, and her empathy. As the first in her family to graduate college, Michelle understands firsthand the critical connection between education and opportunity. She also acknowledges the dynamic group of leaders in her school network who have contributed to her professional growth over the last 15 years. Inspired to re-invest the mentorship she has received, Michelle guides teachers and administrators as an Association of California School Administrators Certified Coach, and Ruby Payne Certified Trainer in Emotional Poverty.
